The PLAY urban drinking fountain embodies a clear intention to contribute to the development of our cities in a direction set by positive values: economy of resources, environmental integration, sustainability and accessibility, projected in the economised use of materials and its formal and functional simplicity . The shape of the unit is reminiscent of a funnel with smooth forms and no superfluous frills. This design clearly seeks ease of use, optimal functionality to ensure accessibility for all users, and versatility in its integrate into any environment: cities, gardens and courtyards. The manufacturing process of the 100% recyclable rotational molded LDPE polyethylene allows the body to be produced in a single funnel-shaped piece that collects water and channels it through the trunk to the drain that also incorporates the tap in a highly simplified design that dispenses with components. The high-resistance body, thanks to its revolutionary geometry, is astonishingly light compared to more conventional models in steel, cast iron or concrete. The taps and piping components have a longer lifetime than the PE body, and they can be recycled for use in future models. The economy of materials in this model optimizes the final price. The cast concrete base that supports the fountain body includes an inspection box with the shut-off valve, the mains connection and the drain outlet, facilitating the assembly process. This new type of urban drinking fountain has been designed by Serra & DeLaRocha in collaboration with ESCOFET's technical team. It is the result of a careful analysis of every aspect involved in these products: transportation of the unit, installation, the way citizens use it and, at the end of its lifetime, its removal and the separation and recycling of its components.
